Here’s how you can register for the COVID-19 vaccine in San Antonio

The city of San Antonio will begin distributing thousands more doses of COVID-19 vaccines this week, both Modern and Pfizer.

So far, three vaccine distribution sites have been announced: the Alamodome, the WellMed Elvira Cisneros Community Center for the Elderly on the south side, and the Alicia Treviño López Community Center for the Elderly on the west side.

All of these vaccination sites will be officially launched on Monday, January 9 and many places have already been filled.

But that doesn’t mean you lose all hope if you haven’t been able to get a vaccine yet. City officials will keep the places open for the next few weeks and more residents will be able to register as more vaccines arrive in Bexar County.

Here’s what you need to know to get your name listed:

  • In operation from Monday 11 January. The venue will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
  • To register for the vaccine, visit covid19.sanantonio.gov/vaccine or call 311 and select option 8. No accessories will be accepted.
  • A total of 1,500 people a day can receive the vaccine at the Alamodome site.
  • Anyone living in Bexar County or any of the other 26 municipal districts can come to the Alamodome to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, according to city leaders.
  • If the appointments are full, you can still keep up to date with vaccine appointment openings at covid19.sanantonio.gov/vaccine.
  • In operation from Monday 11 January. Opening hours are from 8 am to 5 pm and are subject to change. Walk-in will not be accepted.
  • To register for the vaccine, call (833) 968-1745. The toll-free telephone line will be answered between eight in the morning and eight in the evening, seven days a week.
  • Even if you can’t get through it, city officials are urging you to keep calling.
  • For those who do not have reliable transportation to the vaccine site, city officials urge you to call the City Council district office for more help.

Those who are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines include health care workers and residents in long-term care centers, known as Phase 1A, and Phase 1B, which includes residents over 65 or residents 16 years of age or older with a chronic condition doctor.

These chronic medical conditions include: cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), heart disease, solid organ transplantation, obesity and severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease and type 2 diabetes.
