High-ranking DEA and DNCD holder reaffirm unity against crime

The head of the Caribbean region of the U.S. Drug Control Administration (DEA), John F. Kanig, and other special agents held a meeting yesterday with the president of the National Directorate of Drug Control ( DNCD), José Cabrera Ulloa.

According to a DNCD statement, the meeting is part of the “strengthening of joint actions between the DNCD and the DEA,” with the goal of prosecuting and punishing drug trafficking, money laundering and other related crimes.

Cabrera Ulloa and DEA agents reaffirmed their commitment to continue to strengthen ties of cooperation between the Dominican Republic and the United States against drug trafficking and transnational crime.

In addition to Special Agent Kanig, the assistant for the Caribbean Region, Special Agent Heron, was present at the meeting; DEA aggregates in the country, Special Agents Daniels and Reed.

Drug trafficking is the trade in addictive or non-addictive toxic substances, mainly cocaine. Most international laws prohibit or limit drug trafficking, with penalties that include enforcement by various means, although this varies depending on the substance and local legislation.
