Grammy-winning singer HER surprised viewers of the Super Bowl LV with her rendition of “America the Beautiful” on Sunday.

It was followed by Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan, who were the first duet to sing “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl in over a decade. As for the legendary performance in the half, the Weeknd will be the protagonist.
He told him Entertainment tonight in a recent interview that, while “nervous” to perform on the world’s biggest stage, she felt “blessed” by the opportunity.
“Honestly, I’m very excited to perform in the Super Bowl. It’s a huge stage and it doesn’t get bigger, you know?” said the 23-year-old. “But I think the goal, for me, is to achieve [the song] my own. I’m a big fan of the different versions of “America the Beautiful”, but I’m really looking forward to including some different elements … do it HER “
HER was born in Vallejo, California, and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Performing this iconic song for an unprecedented time in the country, she shared what it meant for her to be a part of that moment.
“I think the number 1 thing I think about a lot is the fact that I’m a young black woman from the Bay Area, who I never imagined I would be on a stage like that,” she said. “I think it’s a message to other young black women that you can do the same.”
