As reported by Univision, even while he was a teacher Villarruel lived in his Ford Thunderbird LX of 97 because he could not afford a place to live while providing for his family in Mexico.
“My body has adapted to all the blows and shapes of the settlement. It serves me as a transport, dining room and bedroom,” he told the media about how it feels to live in his act.
That’s when a former student, Steven Nava, found him on the streets.

The student wanted to provide an initial $ 300 grant to Villarruel, but knew he would need more.
So he created a campaign that went viral to raise money for the teacher.
