LONDON, England-. Mauricio Lara gave the surprise and celebrated in England his victory against the English and favorite, Josh Warrington, whom he knocked out and took the unbeaten with a knockout in the ninth round.
The 22-year-old Mexican boxer planted himself at the Wembley Arena and achieved the feat against the former featherweight champion of the International Boxing Federation, so he was proclaimed the winner in the final straight.
The Mexican-born, who fought in shorts that had the colors of the flag, struck a series of blows in the ninth round to send the 30-year-old Briton to the canvas.
However, the ‘Bronco’ Lara had already given a warning in the fourth round of the fight, as he commanded the ground in Warrington, but the Leeds-born managed to stand up and continue in the fight.
Lara beat the European against all odds, as the ‘Bronco’ was 15 to 1 down in the bets, but gave the surprise in London, a case similar to what happened with Andy Ruiz when he beat Anthony Joshua.
The Mexican boxer now set his record at 22 wins and just two losses, following his win over Josh Warrington. The Englishman was left with 30 fights won and one lost, by the fists of Maurice Lara.
