Hitman 3 will reduce the file sizes for previous series entries

When Hitman 3 releases later this month, it looks like the game will reduce the file size of the previous two entries in the series. The announcement was made in a thread on ResetEra by A Path Finder, a verified member of the IO Interactive development team. Apparently, the three games with all the content will increase by about 100 GB in total. One Path Finder said IO Interactive accomplished the task by removing duplicate data and using “newer, better compression for textures.” For those who are concerned about hard drive space, it should be very welcome news.

The amount of space a game takes up has become a serious problem for many players in recent years. As games continue to advance and as DLC becomes an expected part of any release, so does the amount of space occupied. Fortunately, IO Interactive isn’t the only publisher making efforts to reduce the amount of space your game takes up; last year, Fortnite Developer Epic Games similarly announced that the size of its game would decrease on the PC. Hopefully, this will be the start of a trend in the video game industry.

Smaller file sizes are just one of the improvements Hitman i Hitman 2 When Hitman 3 releases. According to A Path Finder, previous games have been improved with reflections on screen space, which should make for a nicer experience. Such updates have become increasingly frequent and should help give players an extra incentive to revisit these previous titles.

Hitman 3 is the latest game in the IO Interactive series, which puts players back in the role of Agent 47. The game will apparently have some of the most important contracts in the franchise’s history and players will have plenty of freedom to run those they deem appropriate. This may mean charging or taking a more secret approach.

Hitman 3 will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC on January 20, 2021. You can check out all of our previous game coverage right here.
