Honduran government guarantees supply of passports by 2021

The authorities of the National Migration Institute (INM) They reported today that guarantees supply of passports both for Honduras and for the different embassies and consulates at the international level.

More than 30,000 passports were issued in offices in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba from March 16 to December 29, 2020.

Hondurans called on the Foreign Ministry to resolve the situation as soon as possible, as they fear losing some benefits, including the Temporary Protection Status (TPS) which decided to expand the United States until October 2021, as one of the requirements is to have active / updated passport.

More than 44,000 Hondurans take refuge in the current TPS, according to official statistics and protects from deportation and grants a work permit in the United States.

“We reiterate our commitment to continue providing migration services to both domestic and foreign nationals at the national level, as well as outside our borders,” Migration said in a statement provided on Sunday following multiple complaints abroad.

Requirements for passport management

The INM has established the following requirements for the issuance of passports in relation to persons over 21 years of age: receipt of payment made at a bank branch, identity card and photocopy, passport if it is still valid, present the day and time indicated on the payment receipt.

Meanwhile, for minors from 0 to 17 years old it is requested: original birth certificate and photocopy, presence of both parents with their original identity and photocopy. In the event that one of the parents is not present, he / she must present a notarized authorization, and if one of the parents died, present the death certificate.

In the case of minors aged 18 to 21, they must present: identity card and photocopy, presence of both parents with their original identity and photocopy.
