Honduran Health Minister warns ‘not asking for favors’ to those who want to alter covid-19 vaccine application

Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

The Minister of Health of Honduras, Alba Consuelo Flors, said on Tuesday that there are people who want to receive the vaccine against covid-19 without respecting the order of priority.

Following the arrival next Saturday of 48,000 vaccines by the World Health Organization (WHO) COVAX mechanism, there have been allegations of abuse in the application.
Flors warned the media that “no one can ask for favors to be vaccinated as these will serve to immunize health personnel.”

The vaccines will be transferred to all municipalities in the country from March 13 to be applied since Tuesday this week.

“Hospital directors will be responsible for continuing the process and ensuring that they are responsibly enforced according to the listings,” the minister said.
By the end of the month, the remaining 139,200 doses given by the COVAX mechanism are expected to arrive in the country.

Alba Consuelo added that they are waiting for the schedule that will be sent by the pharmaceutical company that will distribute the vaccine to see the dose amounts and arrival date of the drug.
In addition to the 400,000 vaccines that will be given via COVAX, four million doses will be purchased to immunize the population the virus.
