The goal was achieved. The Under-23 Selection of Honduras reached the semifinals of the CONCACAF Pre-Olympic after tying 1-1 against its Canadian counterpart in the closing of Group A of the competition held in the city of Guadalajara.

In the next phase the catracho team will have to face the United States for the ticket to the final. The other key to the semifinals will be played by the national teams of Mexico and Canada.

For their part, the teams from El Salvador and Haiti say goodbye to the competition that is being played in Mexican territory.

The Aztecs advanced as Group A leaders. The two finalists will automatically qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics to be held between July 23 and August 10.

actions

The catracho team showed a lot of category, played with confidence in front of a very replicating opponent who showed very good technique.

The Honduran steering wheel Kervin Arriga dared to clear the pitch and pulled out a bomb that shook the left vertical in the 8th minute.

Very good Honduras, with an average track wasting craft and game cohesion.

Wely Decas sent a free kick in high over the penalty box after 13 minutes, but José García’s shot from the left sailed high over the bar. He imposed his criteria, his conditions.

But when Honduras played best he was surprised by his opponent. Derek Cornelius received a cross, between the central catrachos Jose Garci’a and Denil Maldonado it plunged and of head it marked the 1-0 in minute 27.

A strong moral blow for the national team, but he did not cringe, did not enter into drama or distrust and continued to play the same.

Winger Edwin Rodríguez was allowed to take it quickly by the referee, much to the dismay of the goalkeeper who wasn’t prepared Denil Maldonado headed elegantly past Canadian archer James Pantemis. It was 1-1, minute 30. Fair and deserved.

From then on, the game was balanced, but the h was closer to scoring when in the 45th minute Alejandro Reis shot from 20 meters, but the goalkeeper rejected the ball.

sensitive low

In the second chapter Honduras continued to dominate the game, had the initiative and very close to the goal with mid-range shots, but the Canadian archer was bandaged and avoided the second goal.

Great merit of the Canadians who endured the catracho gale. Unfortunately the marker did not move and Kervin Arriaga received a yellow card disqualifying him from playing in the semifinals against USA.

But playing this Honduras is exciting, of course ..
