Details of the Department of Health they located today hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Puerto Rico over 500 cases, Returning to a stage in July last year. This is an exponential increase compared to previous weeks where the figure did not exceed 150 hospitalizations.
As of today, Sunday, April 18, 2021, the Department of Health data is that there are 509 people hospitalized in Puerto Rico for COVID-19, including 46 minors. In the case of minors, this is an increase of 10 hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.
Puerto Rico had over 500 hospitalizations in July 2020 and in November came to have over 600 hospitalizations. Then this data, along with others to measure the behavior of the pandemic were reduced, but since March scientists working with the health emergency were warning about a pandemic rise that would raise cases exponentially.
Faced with the rise in cases, the government has chosen to keep all sectors operating, but since yesterday the capacity has been reduced in closed places such as restaurant salons, beauty salons or churches to 30%. Business hours were also reduced to 9 p.m.
Of the 509 people hospitalized, 96 are in intensive care units, including 4 minors, and 67 are in ventilators, including two minors.
The Hospitals Association had issued a statement earlier in the weekend urging people not to leave their homes if it was not necessary to try to curb levels of infection. The Society of Infectious Diseases has asked people to avoid travel, not to have family parties, to avoid activities such as singing in enclosed spaces with air conditioning, among other recommendations.
