“Today we are writing to respectfully request your continued support at the COVID-19 Community Vaccination Center (CVC) in Harris County NRG Park. The CVC has allowed the distribution of 6,000 doses of vaccine per day, 7 days a week. the week since the end of February, and has helped reduce racial and geographic disparities in the distribution of vaccines in Harris County and the city of Houston, and its continued operation is critical to vaccinating Harris County residents. of the City of Houston as soon as possible, “the joint statement said.
The clinic, which opened on Feb. 24, was scheduled to be in place for six weeks. Now, Turner and Hidalgo are requesting continued assistance until at least May 31, 2021.
Before opening the clinic, organizers said at least the federal site was expected to vaccinate 126,000 people. The mega-site should greatly increase the chances of getting the shot soon.
At the request of Turner and Hidalgo, as of March 21, 12.1% of the Harris County population, age 16 or older, was completely vaccinated.

Prior to the site’s launch, Judge Hidalgo said people 65 and older on the waiting list who come from the city’s top ten and county zip codes will receive top priority for site vaccines.

The next priority group will be those over 65 years of age.
The fourth priority group will be those aged 60 to 64 with underlying medical conditions.
FEMA uses the Harris County and Houston City waiting list. People are being contacted to request an appointment.
