The assault on the Michigan Capitol in April 2020 was provoked by prosecution managers several times as an example of what led to the deadly insurgency on January 6, 2021.

“Michigan State House was effectively a statewide general rehearsal for the confiscation of the U.S. Capitol,” Rep. Jamie Raskin said.

House administrators also noted the heated dispute between former President and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
“After the armed siege in Lansing, President Trump refused to condemn the attacks on the Michigan Capitol or to denounce the violent violators of the law,” Raskin said.
The photo of gunmen by Senator Livonia Dayna Polehanki in the gallery of the Michigan State Senate is now an official record of American history.
“I certainly didn’t think this photo, which commemorates that day, would be used by House dismissal managers in Donald Trump’s second dismissal, but it doesn’t escape me that it’s historic,” Polehanki said.
He said he was not surprised to see photos of Michigan during the dismissal.

“I think it’s likely that the assault on the Michigan Capitol on April 30 was a general rehearsal for what took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6,” Polehanki said. “And I think the people who took care of the Capitol in DC saw it in Michigan. It happened with impunity. “
Polehanki has also called for a complete ban on firearms at the State Capitol after the ban on open transport was established in January. So far, Republican lawmakers have indicated that banning open transportation is what they are willing to get.
