Bringing Christmas from Puerto Rico to the United States through food is not easy. That’s why the TSA’s federal director of security on the Island, Mariely Loperena, explained what her recommendations are for travelers who wanted to bring typical dishes like cakes on their plane trip.
According to him, this is a topic of daily discussion and what was advised to the passengers is that they push the cakes into the checked baggage going to the hold of the plane.
“Now, if you determine that you want to take the cakes with you in your carry-on luggage, the process is for the security officer to ask the passenger to take the cake out of the suitcase,” he said.
After this, you must open one of the cakes and show it to the security officer so that he can validate that it is in fact a cake.
After inspecting it, the officer will do a process of detecting explosives in the hands of the passenger, “and if all goes well, his cakes can be carried out,” Loperena concluded.
