Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden, said in a new interview that he is “100%” sure that “any wrongdoing will be cleared” in a Justice Department (DOJ) investigation into his taxes.
Hunter Biden told Tracy Smith, a CBS News correspondent, that he “fully collaborates.”
“I am absolutely sure, 100% sure that at the end of the investigation, I will be finished with any wrongdoing,” said Hunter Biden, who added that “all I can do is cooperate and trust the process.”
Hunter Biden last year confirmed that the U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware was investigating his taxes.
“I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I dealt with my matters legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisers,” he said in a statement in December.

The Associated Press, citing an unidentified source familiar with the DOJ investigation, reported last year that a subpoena was issued on request for Hunter Biden documents related to Ukrainian gas company Burisma.
It was unclear at the time whether investigators were looking for information about Hunter Biden’s work with the company or evaluating his sources of income.
Hunter Biden joined Burisma’s board of directors in 2014 while his father served as vice president under former President Obama and was the administration’s chief person for Ukrainian politics. A report by Senate Republicans last year found no evidence that Hunter Biden’s work had a direct impact on Ukrainian politics at the time.
Hunter Biden told CBS News that he did not believe he “made a mistake in taking a seat on the board,” but said he “made a mistake in underestimating how it would be used against me.”
“All I know is that neither a body of investigation, nor a serious journalist, has ever accused, nor has it come to the conclusion that I did anything wrong or that my father did anything,” he said.
Hunter Biden in an extensive interview also addressed his history of substance abuse. He recalled a period after the death of his brother, Beau Biden, in 2015, when he was drinking vodka, CBS reported.
Hunter Biden also recalled an interaction with his father, who was vice president at the time it occurred.
“As soon as he left his secret service, he found a way to get home,” Hunter Biden said. “And I said,‘ What are you doing here? He said, “What are you doing?” I said, “Dad, I’m fine.” He said, “You’re not right.”
He also talked about his history of drug addiction, telling CBS that he “spent more time on his hands and knees picking up carpets, smoking anything that even resembled crack cocaine.”
“I’ve probably smoked more Parmesan cheese than anyone you know, I’m sure, Tracy! I mean, I was once for 13 days without sleep, smoking crack and drinking vodka exclusively all this time, ”he continued.
The interview comes days before Tuesday’s release of Hunter Biden’s book “Beautiful Things”.
