The Cuban reggaeton player Yomil Hidalgo Ponts denounced the censorship that has been the victim of the ICRT (Cuban Institute of Radio and Television) for almost six years.
The member of the group Yomil and El Dany he shared a text on his social media in which he charges against the professional obstacles he has had to deal with within his own country since the beginning of his artistic career.
“My respect for your opinion ends when you try to inculcate yours without respecting mine. I’m worth censorship, if in the end I’ve been censored for almost 6 years in my own country without being put on radio or television.” , the artist began his writing.
the urban singer to also boast in the message of being one of the most important artists of the urban genre in Cuba despite the impediments and barriers that have placed it. He also expressed the pride he feels for having made a career with his music and having reached every corner of the country.
“You think I need their platforms to grow-? What ignorance of them hehe hey, in any case you are the ones who need mine which is much harder and more powerful than all your means together “, add.
Yomil he says that due to censorship he has had to look for other variants, which is why he has created his own platforms so that his fans can enjoy his work without having to have “mediocre means like those of the ICRT”.
“That’s why I created my own platform and especially thanks to all my fans who give me their support every day, to avoid relying on mediocre media like the ICRT to promote my work #fucktucensura I am free to express and opine, with all due respect, because we are in 2021 we are not in the 90s “, he concluded.
So far, the urban music singer has not explained the exact causes that became triggers for him to share this post on social media, although six years of censorship within his own country would be more than enough for that.
There have been several times when the reggaeton player has expressed his views on social media when his artistic career has been affected by decisions made by people outside them or directly by members of the Cuban government.
On more than one occasion, Yomil and El Dany have suffered unexpected cancellations of their concerts on the island, which they had previously arranged.
In April 2019, two concerts that the group was going to offer, one in El Rumb de Güines and another in Guanimar, Guanabo, they were suspended “without a logical explanation and out of pure bureaucracy”.
“It’s a shame that without a logical explanation and out of pure bureaucracy we continue to suspend concerts already agreed. A thousand apologies to our audience I know they always expect to see us anxiously. We hope to see them soon and that once and for all all someone realizes and understands that music heals the soul in every way, ”they denounced in their day.
In September of that same year they again had the same bitter experience after the cancellation of another musical event, specifically what they were going to realize in the Pink Hall the Tropical one in Havana to celebrate the group’s fourth anniversary.
In response to this new measure without warning, Yomil shared a video on his Instagram account where he showed his displeasure and released expressions such as:
“Only from this I can draw a conclusion and I say: it’s amazing to see artists who do not live in Cuba come here and allow them to do mass concerts and, on the other hand, we who are here or in dreams can imagine that they will leave us make an event like these, ”he expounded in his day.
