Duke is left out of the ACC tournament after a positive test of COVID-19 within the program, the conference announced Thursday morning.
The Blue Devils were scheduled to play Florida State on Thursday in the ACC quarterfinals.
The cancellation “follows a positive test, a subsequent quarantine and a follow-up of contacts within Duke’s men’s basketball program,” an ACC statement said. “The team follows the protocols described in the ACC Medical Advisory Group report, which is available at theACC.com”
Florida State will move on to the semifinal round of the tournament to play with the winner of tonight’s North Carolina game against Virginia Tech which is now scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Duke beat Louisville 70-56 Wednesday to keep his hopes alive in the NCAA tournament. The Blue Devils settled on Joe Lunardi’s next Four Out in his latest Bracketology; they needed to win the state of Florida and maybe get another win to receive a general offer on Sunday.
With the fall of Duke from the ACC tournament, however, it is unlikely that the Blue Devils will make the NCAA tournament. It would be his first absence from the NCAA tournament since 1995.
