Brandin Cooks has changed more than login credentials to a streaming service.
The former 2014 first-round pick has played with the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams and Houston Texans since 2016. Teams have paid a premium for their services, and he has delivered. Still, the 27-year-old will give up.
“As for the team, they could change me for projection capital, I would warn them to think twice, because frankly I won’t accept any more transactions,” Cooks said. “For me, if you want me to leave your team, you just have to let me walk and choose my destination. For me, I have a newborn son at home and he is looking for someone to set an example, so I think I am the one who is firm when it comes to my professional career ”.
Cooks has caught 70 catches over 984 yards and four touchdowns. Unless he gets the full stop against the Tennessee Titans in Week 17, he will win his fifth 1,000-yard campaign in his seven seasons in the NFL.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson is another elite interlocutor that Cooks has had the luxury of playing. Still, Houston lacks first- and second-round options in the 2021 NFL draft and could be looking to eliminate the draft capital roster. Chefs adapt to the given bill that there are no more guarantees in their contract.
“When it comes to playing here and playing with Deshaun, I would love to continue that growth, but that’s out of my hands,” Cooks said. “These are decisions I don’t make and I hope the team sees the growth we’ve had and we continue to show that commitment and growing over the years.”
The low season situation of the jeans with a new coach and a general manager does not cause anxiety to Cooks.
“For me, as a guy who has been changed several times for first-round options and produced at a high level, I don’t think about it,” Cooks said. “I understand that we are in a unique situation. For me, Four is a special player and I would like to continue growing with him. “
