Identification. Life: VW unveils a small, cheap electric SUV aimed at first-time car buyers

Price for young car buyers and for the first time, the DNI. Life will cost about 20,000 euros, the equivalent of just under $ 24,000 at current exchange rates. VW did not say in which specific markets the new model would be offered.

The open-pointed steering wheel has a touch screen in the center to control various driving functions, including gear selector. The driver’s own mobile phone can be used as a central touch screen.

The concept vehicle also includes several features that essentially turn the car into a mobile entertainment hub.

“Tomorrow’s customer will not simply want to move from A to B; they will be much more interested in the experiences a car can offer,” said Ralf Brandstätter, executive director of the Volkswagen brand. “Identification. Life is our answer to that.”

The small crossover even has a video game projector along with a projection screen coming out of the control panel. The front and rear seats can be folded flat to use them as beds or to make room for large loads.

The identification. Life is based on the same electric vehicle engineering as some current VW models, such as the ID.4 crossover SUV. The identification. Life is shorter, however, and it has front-wheel drive instead of rear-wheel drive, like the other VW identification models. The car can go from zero to 60 miles in less than seven seconds and will be able to travel about 248 miles on a single charge according to European test parameters, according to VW.
