CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Despite warnings from Corpus Christi City Manager Peter Zanoni and the Corpus Christi Police Department about cracking down on illegal fireworks, it was a night of insomnia for many residents of Corpus Christi.
An Austin resident visiting a family in the La Molina neighborhood recorded a large fireworks display from her mother’s porch.
Hundreds of illegal fireworks can be seen shooting in the short video clip that Maria de la Luz Martinez recorded with her cell phone on block 4300 of Barrera Drive.
She explains to KRIS 6 News that it has become an annual tradition to see illegal fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
And many other residents of Molina went out last night to see the illegal display their neighbors were doing.
