Illinois COVID update today: IL reports 1,740 new coronavirus cases, 42 deaths

CHICAGO (WLS) – Illinois Department of Public Health officials reported 1,740 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 42 deaths on Thursday.

IDPH reported a total of 1,193,260 cases of COVID-19, including 20,668 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

As of Wednesday night, 1,200 patients in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 260 patients were in the ICU and 128 patients with COVID-19 with ventilators.

In the last 24 hours, labs have reported testing 73,990 specimens for a total of 18,389,512 since the pandemic began.

The preliminary positivity of the seven-day state test from February 25 to March 3 is 2.9%.

A total of 3,563,775 doses of vaccine were delivered to Illinois providers, including Chicago, with an additional 443,700 doses assigned to federal government partners for long-term care facilities, bringing the total number of deliveries in Illinois at 4,007,475.

IDPH reports that a total of 2,993,543 vaccine doses have been administered, including 330,328 in long-term facilities. The average of seven days of vaccines administered is 78,942.

The deaths reported on Thursday include:

-County Bureau: 1 man of 50 years
-Champaign County: 1 man from the 80s
Cook County: 2 men 50 years, 2 men 60 years, 1 woman 70 years, 1 man 70 years, 2 women 80 years, 3 men 80 years
-DuPage County: 1 man of 50 years, 1 man of 60 years
-Kane County: 1 woman aged 50, 1 woman aged 60
-Lake County: 1 woman for 50 years, 1 man for 50 years, 1 man for 60 years, 1 woman for 70 years, 1 woman for 90
-LaSalle County: 1 woman aged 80 years
-Macon County: 1 man from the 80s
-Madison County: 1 70-year-old woman, 1 70-year-old man

-Mclean County: 1 man from the 70s
-Monroe County; 1 male 80 years
-M Morgan County: 1 woman aged 70 years
-Ogle County: 1 man from the 80s
-County of Peoria: 1 man of 60 years, 1 man of 70 years
-Sangamon County: 1 male 60 years, 1 male 80 years
-Stephenson County: 1 woman over 100 years old
-County County: 1 woman 30 years, 1 man 50 years, 1 woman 60 years, 2 men 60 years, 1 man 70 years
-Winnebago County: 1 woman 90
