Telework came to stay, at least for a while, in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic. Video calls or remote conferencing have brought workplaces home, and with them have also come some bad technological breakthroughs, as happened with a lawyer in Texas (USA).
Rod Ponton accidentally left a cat filter on during a video conference with a judge. Noticing that the face of a white cat was seen on the screen with his eyes wide open, Judge Roy Ferguson commented: “I think it has a filter enabled in the video settings and it’s possible you want to turn it off “. Ponton, who couldn’t figure out how to turn off the filter, just aimed to say “I’m here live, I’m not a cat.” The video, shared on Twitter by journalist Lawrence Hurley has received more than 198,000 likes and has been retweeted more than 56,000 times in the first seven hours after its publication.
The truth is that a computer slip can have anyone. Ponton said in an interview with Vice News that he was using his assistant’s computer, which had this filter enabled. “I took it off and replaced it with my face. It was a case involving a man trying to leave the United States with contraband and contraband cash. It was all a mistake. They took it off me and we had the hearing normally, ”the lawyer explains. Judge Ferguson later justified this anecdote.
These fun moments are a byproduct of the dedication of the legal profession to ensuring that the judicial system continues to function in these difficult times. Everyone involved treated him with dignity and the leaked lawyer showed incredible grace. Real professionalism around!

Such seems to be a strange relationship between lawyers and pregnancy moments in video conferencing. Last year, a Mexican lawyer was surprised the moment his camera moved. “Lawyer, he’s not wearing pants, he’s in a hearing,” he is heard telling a judge at a work session that was shared thousands of times in July this year.
