“I’m so sorry; I drove like an idiot”

Czech apologized to members of the Red Bull team after mistakes in Imola

Sergio Checo Pérez accepted his failures in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where he started in second place and finished without points by finishing in twelfth place.

After crossing the finish line in Imola, the Red Bull driver was blunt with his performance. “Handle like an idiot.”

Checo Pérez’s mistakes ended up affecting the Austrian team, as they had the opportunity to take first place in the world constructors’ championship, but their failure caused their team to only add 25 points thanks to the victory of Max Verstappen.

Checo Pérez made a major mistake on lap 38 when Gilles Villeneuve left the track on the corner, causing him to fall to fourteenth position.

Checo Pérez could not get into the points and in his quest to enter the top 10 he could only beat Sebastian Vettel and was 600/10 to overtake Fernando Alonso.

“I’m sorry guys, today I drove like an idiot. I apologize,” he mentioned.

“I’m very, very sorry. Sorry guys. My big apologies, “Checo Perez added at the finish line.

The work of Checo Pérez caused him to suffer a drastic drop in the world drivers’ championship by dropping from fifth to eighth position by adding only 10 units.

“I think there were very complicated conditions. I touched the wet side of the track and it was my mistake. The positive thing is that we will come back stronger, we will keep working as a team and I am very sorry for the team.”

The leader of the competition is Lewis Hamilton, who took the extra point in Imola and reached 44 points. With one unit less is Perez’s partner, Max Verstappen.

Third place goes to Lando Norris, who took the podium and reached 27 units, while Charles Leclerc climbed to fourth place with 12 units.

Sergio Pérez will have to wash the bad image he gave this weekend at the next Grand Circus event when they visit Portugal and run on May 2 at the Portimao Grand Prix.
