DAVENPORT, Iowa (KCRG) – ImpactLife announced Friday that it will require all of its employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Nov. 1.
Employees must meet the requirement by obtaining the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or the Modern or Johnson & Johnson single vaccine.
The Davenport-based blood center employs more than 700 employees in locations in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin.
In a statement, ImpactLife said the decision was made to help ensure a safe work environment and to provide clarity on the vaccination status of employees for donors, volunteers, vendors and hospitals.
“Our decision comes after several weeks of dialogue and deliberation, with comments from key stakeholders across our organization,” said Mike Parejko, CEO. “Ultimately, the decision to require vaccination against COVID-19 received the unanimous support of our executive management team, our medical leadership and the Board of Directors. We believe this step will help ensure the safety of our staff. and the ability to continue to provide the blood supply to our region as we work through the COVID-19 ”pandemic.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has received full FDA approval, while the Modern and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available under emergency use authorization.
ImpactLife has locations in Burlington, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Dubuque, Iowa City / Coralville, Muscatine and Ottumwa.
