IMSS Technical Council no longer asks to buy medicines from UNOPS

The Technical Council of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) has requested that consolidated purchases of inputs and drugs no longer “continue to be made through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) “as the shortage continues.

“The Technical Council expressed its concern about the lack of medicines to provide timely assistance to those entitled and that the purchase of these inputs is no longer carried out through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). , by virtue of which the IMSS has the historical experience to do so in an efficient, transparent and honest manner “, according to a statement from the Social Security.

At the meeting of government, workers ‘and employers’ representatives, the director general of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, said that “a fight against corruption has been undertaken”, but as a member of the Technical Council he also considered analyzing the proposal to acquire, as before, medicines and inputs by tender and no longer depend on UNOPS.

These agreements were made known to Rogelio Ramírez del O, Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, as owner representative for the Federal Executive before the Technical Council.

Before councilors from the government, workers and employers in the regular session of this Wednesday, Zoé Robledo recalled that on June 9 the President Andrés Manuel López Obrador appointed Ramírez de O as Secretary of Finance, position in which it was ratified on 3 August by the Chamber of Deputies and stressed that there will be close coordination and linkage between the IMSS and this unit.

Meanwhile, Rogelio Ramírez de O stressed that IMSS workers have always been a key player in the development of the country andsign that during the covid-19 pandemic, Social Security “has been one of the pillars on which the health of Mexican workers rests and in the economic recovery “.

The Secretary of the Treasury stressed that the Technical Council discusses issues of great importance for the benefit of beneficiaries and said its commitment to work in a coordinated manner to meet institutional challenges and strengthen the Mexican health system.

On the other hand, Robledo thanked the virtual assistance of the Secretary of the Civil Service, Roberto Salcedo Aquino, a unit that participates as a guest permanently in the sessions of this tripartite body from the implementation of an anti-corruption program and good practices with the IMSS.

In his opportunity, Salcedo Aquino, exposed during the ordinary session of Technical Council that the Secretariat of the Civil Service (SFP) and the IMSS have embarked on a fight against corruption.

In turn, the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer, stressed that Social Security is a key piece in the health of the people of Mexico, “Of course in the present and future management of the pandemic is central, despite economic pressures.”

At the end of the session, the Secretary of Health stressed that substantial issues were discussed, such as the interaction of the Institute with various secretaries, including the Civil Service.

Alcocer Varela indicated that in Mexico there is a large cultural reserve of the town and institutions to fight corruption.

The ordinary session was attended by representatives of the government sector: Jorge Alcocer and Rogelio Ramírez de O As guests: Roberto Salcedo Aquino and Paola Patricia Truja Sauvage, delegate and public commissioner owner of the General Coordination of Bodies of Surveillance and Control of at SFP.

Representing the employer sector, the directors: José Manuel López Camps, President of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur); Jorge Dávila Girón, substitute director of Concanaco-Servytur; Manuel Reguera Rodríguez, representative of Concamin; Solomon Presburger Slovik, titular representative of Concamin; and Ricardo David García Portilla, substitute director of Concamin.
