Indianapolis Colts WR TY Hilton with back and neck injuries

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver TY Hilton is being evaluated for an upper back and neck injury, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter, and it is unknown how long he will be lost.

Hilton, 31, has been the Colts ’No. 1 receiver throughout his nine seasons at Indianapolis, which includes five 1,000-yard campaigns.

Hilton, a free agent this past season, signed a $ 8 million one-year contract to return to Indianapolis. You are guaranteed $ 8 million and can earn up to $ 10 million if you get incentives. He said he turned down a multi-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens to stay with the franchise.

“I wanted to stay here no matter the cost,” Hilton said in April. “I gave up a lot of money to stay here, and that’s what I wanted to do.”

In April, reporters asked Hilton if this season could be the last.

“After this year, I’ll reevaluate everything, see how my body feels,” he said. “If I want to keep going, I’ll keep going and if I don’t, I’ll hang him.”

Hilton led the Colts to receiving yards with 762 last season and tied the team with five touchdown catches.

The Colts offense has been bitten by injury error this preseason.

Offensive linebacker Sam Tevi is the latest to fall, with a source telling ESPN’s Mike Wells that Tevi will miss the season with a torn ACL. He had been in the mix to start playing on the left until Eric Fisher returns from an Achilles injury.

In addition to Hilton, Tevi and Fisher, quarterback Sam Ehlinger is expected to miss 5 to 6 weeks with a sprained knee, a source told Schefter, while quarterback Carson Wentz (foot) and the offense linebacker Quenton Nelson (foot) and Ryan Kelly (elbow)) returned Monday from injury.
