After IndyCar has left Iowa out of its schedule for this year, grocery chain Hy-Vee will pave the way for returning the 0.875-mile oval short wheel series in 2022 to a new multi-year deal. The sloping D-shaped short oval is generally considered one of the funniest IndyCar ovals. It’s definitely better than that shitty show they do in Texas every year.
For the past year and a half, Hy-Vee has been increasingly involved in IndyCar, sponsoring a Rahal Letterman Lannigan’s car for the whole season and a second for some select races. By 2022, the company wants to get more involved in a big, local way. Next July will feature the two Double Header weekend races, with the Hy-VeeDeals.com 250 on Saturday 23 and the Hy-Vee Salute to Farmers 300 going down on Sunday 24.
The race even has the support of Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, who He said: “The state of Iowa was committed to the sport of racing when the Iowa Speedway was built, and today’s exciting announcement from Hy-Vee’s partnership with the NTT IndyCar Series he reaffirms it.
“Iowa is well suited to be an IndyCar destination for racing enthusiasts across the country and I encourage Iowa businesses and organizations to support the success of this event in whatever way they can.”
I really like Iowa races and I was more than upset to see them disappear from this year’s schedule. IndyCar is doing a lot of good things and I think one of the things it’s doing really well is reducing the number of ovals planned. But if you want to get rid of the ovals, keep at least the good ones. Gateway is meh, Texas sucks, keeps Indy and Iowa and leaves the rest.

I went to a Hy-Vee gas station yesterday in downtown Iowa, and it was a clean, nice establishment.
