The Institute of Price Stabilization (Inespre) started selling bananas at RD $ 1.00 in its markets of producers and mobile wineries.
Inespre and Agriculture acquired 2.5 million units of bananas from producers in the province of Valverde that were affected by a wind last week, with the aim of preventing them from having economic losses and their crops. The products began to sell immediately to the population.
Iván Hernández Guzmán, director of the entity, has reported that thanks to the timely intervention of the Government Agricultural Cabinet headed by the Minister of Agriculture Limber Cross, it was possible to quickly assist the affected farmers and acquire from the beginning of the week the item.
Hernández Guzmán stressed that the governor of Valverde, Daysi Aquino, also took part in the search for solutions; Senator Eddy Nolasc; the regional manager of Agriculture, César Estévez; which allowed measures to be taken for the benefit of producers and the population.
Hundreds of residents in Dajabón, Montecristi and other parts of the country benefited from the sale of the product. The Inespre has also attended producers of onions from Ocoa and Pedernales, carrots from Constanza, chickens from Cibao, potatoes from Ocoa and Constanza, foxes from the northwest line, cassava from Azua and the Cibao, in the marketing of its food.

The director of Inespre added that more and more Dominicans are benefiting from the purchase of low-cost food in mobile wineries and producer markets, which is reflected in the considerable increase in sales.
According to institutional figures, the institution sold only 902,884 pounds of food and 2 million 902,000 903 units of other products last August, benefiting more than a million people who visited 510 mobile wineries and 500 producers’ markets. .
The official said 612,655 pounds of rice were marketed; 210 thousand pounds of chicken; 3,388 pounds of fish; 924,000 pounds of black beans; 23,184 pints of beans; 1 million 243,086 units of foxes; 1 million 352,310 eggs; 246,515 bananas; 66,144 pounds of potatoes and 31,477 pounds of cassava, among others.
“It’s good to note that Inespre does not sell wholesale in its institutional programs and we have regulations for the sale of some products per person. We managed to sell 277.89 tons of rice in a month in five-pound cases, reaching a maximum of two units per person, is a record in our sales “, expressed Hernández Guzmán.
