The Infectious Diseases Society of Puerto Rico published a list of recommendations for increasing cases of coronavirus, COVID-19, both in Puerto Rico and in the United States and other parts of the world.
Among the suggestions provided in written communication, signed by infectologists Lemuel Martínez, Humberto Guiot and Marielys Otero, president, vice president and secretary of the Society respectively, is to cancel any trip to the United States and international travel. “There are many more aggressive variants of COVID-19, access to medicines is limited and vaccination processes are just beginning in many countries,” reads part of the expressions.
They indicated that the states with the highest incidence are Michigan, Rhode Island, Minnesota and Alaska. They emphasize the poor security measures against VOCID in the states of Texas and Florida.

In addition, health workers urged citizens to cancel family reunions and parties, including the celebration of Mother’s Day. “We ask families to avoid meetings with travelers, regardless of whether they are vaccinated,” they added.
On the other hand, the Society recommended that they not be sung in Churches or businesses that are in closed places.
In relation to the Government, doctors called for immediate and aggressive curfew measures, partial closure of non-essential services and cancellation of weekend activities to prevent a lock down, at least in the next 2 to 4 weeks.
On the increase in hospitalizations, they indicate that they must “provide themselves with protective equipment, masks and all necessary material in the face of a possible exponential increase in patients.”
