TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras.- Two people were found dead this Saturday afternoon inside a van. The finding was recorded at the height of the village Cantoral, kilometer 30 of the road leading to the department of Olancho.
The corpses, of a man and a woman, identified as Óscar Lisandro Salgado and Nery Esperança Jiménez Navarro, they were found inside a luxurious gray vehicle with a number of plates CEO 9403.

The couple was reportedly intercepted by strangers who shot them. The car was parked in the middle of the road, so it caught the attention of several people driving around the site and gave notice to the authorities.
Elements of the National Police arrived in the area and confirmed the double crime. The motive for the crime is unknown at this time.
Increased homicides
According to the latest report from the Security Secretariat, homicides increased by 13% in the first seven months of 2021 in Honduras.
The data revealed that from January to July, 2,188 murders were perpetrated, 252 more than the 1,936 recorded in the first seven months of last year.
The country recorded 3,496 homicides in 2020, 14.3% less than in 2019, when they totaled 4,082, according to official figures.
