Instagram explains Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s account about COVID vaccine claims

Instagram said Wednesday it withdrew Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s account. for making false claims about the COVID-19 vaccine.

“We removed this account because we repeatedly shared rejected claims about the coronavirus or vaccines,” a spokesman said.

The prominent anti-vaxxer had 800,000 followers on the platform when his account was banned.

Recently, he had falsely linked the death of legendary baseball player Hank Aaron to the COVID-19 shooting, while claiming that there had been “a wave of suspicious deaths among elderly people” who received the vaccine.

Kennedy’s Facebook page was still active since Wednesday.

A Facebook spokesman, who owns Instagram, said the company does not automatically deactivate accounts in all of its apps, as users can post different things on different platforms.
