Danish developer IO Interactive announced today who has opened a third studio in Barcelona, Spain, to work alongside their existing locations in Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden.
“The three IO Interactive studios are treated as Elite studios and each will have a significant impact on the ongoing development and publishing efforts of all projects,” the company statement says.
These projects include the continuous development of the company’s flagship Hitman franchise, the mysterious Project 007 (which has been described as the origin story of James Bond), and another IP that remains unannounced. IO Interactive CEO and co-founder Hakan Abrak spoke briefly about this third franchise last week during an interview with IGN, calling it “completely new.”
“All three studios have extremely talented and passionate developers and driven to impact our industry,” Abrak added in today’s announcement. “A key part of our philosophy is that everyone at IOI plays an important and impactful role in realizing our dreams, no matter where they are. Think of it as a studio, in various locations. “
