Iowa, Big Ten announce calendar 2021-22 – University of Iowa Athletics

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa, along with the Big Ten Conference, announced its 2021-22 men’s basketball agenda on Wednesday.

The Hawkeyes will play 18 regular-season home games and an exhibition game at Mediacom Court at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Eight of Iowa’s 11 non-conference contests will be played in Iowa City, including six in a row to start the season. Iowa will eliminate the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, Nov. 9 against Longwood. The Hawkeyes will play non-conference road games in Virginia (November 29) and Iowa State (December 9) and in a neutral-place contest against Utah State in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (December 18) .

Iowa will open the Big Ten Conference game on the road in Purdue on Friday, Dec. 3, followed by a home game against Illinois, a border rival, on Monday, Dec. 6.

Iowa will play seven Big Ten teams twice and six teams once. The Hawkeyes will compete twice against Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State and Purdue. Iowa will host Indiana, Michigan State and Northwestern, and travel to Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin.

The Hawkeyes will play four times authentic road games, including the last two competitions of the regular season, and will have a three-game home run, Feb. 13-22.

Head coach Fran McCaffery, who is entering his 12th season as Iowa’s head coach, returns 10 players and welcomes five newcomers in 2021-22. Jordan Bohannon, who is the all-time leader of the program in games played, three-point percentage, assists and free throws, returns for his sixth season on the perimeter of Hawkeye. Redshirt senior head coach Connor McCaffery has ranked among the national leaders in terms of attendance and turnover over the past two seasons, while striker Keegan Murray was one of five recognized players on the All-Big Ten Freshman team. in 2021.
