Iowa Wrestling coach Tom Brands issued the following statement on Saturday:

“Austin DeSanto will not be taking part in the NCAA All-American Parade or the medal ceremony on Saturday night. DeSanto misbehaved with NCAA media officials as he stepped out of the mat this afternoon and after consulting with the NCAA Fighting Committee and our administration, we made an institutional decision to retain him. about tonight’s activities.

DeSanto issued the following statement in response:

“My behavior with NCAA media officials before the post-match interview was wrong and I must sincerely apologize to everyone involved. My language and behavior were inappropriate and inexcusable. I spoke with Tom and I understand and agree with the decision. ”
