The “southern mouth” can be quite polarizing, especially those outside the sweet tea and grain belt. This is because if anyone wrote the book on SEC homerism, it is Paul Finebaum who is now at the helm of ESPN.
There are a few national writers we follow to see what their opinion is on the college football landscape, and in fact we like to check out enemy territory from time to time with Finebaum and where it stands with things.
According to Finebaum’s appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up,” he has a top four that will make you happy if you’re an Ohio State fan. Its top two places consist of Alabama (1) and Georgia (2) (they can’t really criticize it right now), then the state of Ohio at number 3 and Oklahoma at number 4.
“Forgetting a bad performance, I’m like Ohio State (at number 3),” Finebaum told ESPN’s Heather Dinich.
You can see Finebaum’s quick explanation of his first four below thanks to the video shared on the official Twitter account “Get Up”. Color that surprised us predictably not throwing Ohio State out of the top four right now.

Number 3 seems to be the place where everyone has the Buckeyes right now too, but can we stop referring to the trip to Minneapolis as a “bad performance?” Of course, there are growth zones with this team, but OSU caught a freshman quarterback on the road in a hostile environment and still covered the spread that Vegas had in the game. If this is a poor performance, our ability to determine what is good and bad has come out the window.
