Israeli planes crashed near Greece, 2 died

The bodies of two people were reportedly recovered after a small private Israeli plane crashed near the island of Samos in the east on Monday evening, Greek media reported.

The plane, the Cessna 172, reportedly took off from Israel and “encountered a problem in approaching the island’s airport.”

It is unclear what that problem was, although tests appear to point to a technical problem with the engine, CNN reported.

A search and rescue team, including local volunteers, has reportedly been sent.

The victims, a man and a woman, have not yet been identified, although ZAKA workers confirmed they were Israeli, according to Haredi media Kikar Hashabbat.

There were no other passengers on the plane, according to reports.
