The South Korean leaderboard lists the SNK and Capcom crossover
It looks like an interesting game rating appeared on the South Korean rating board (GRAC) that can tell a classic crossover is making its way to the Nintendo Switch.
A rating for “Ultimate Fighters SNK VS. CAPCOM (NS)” was posted on the game’s rating and registration committee website and appears to have been registered earlier this month. As reported by NintendoLife, the title looks like SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium and seems to be targeting Nintendo’s handheld console / hybrid.
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium was originally released in late 1999 with the NeoGeo Pocket Color handheld system. Players could choose from 26 different fighters, with representatives from Capcom’s IP addresses and, of course, SNKs.
This crossover allowed 1v1 solo combat, two-person tags, or three-character teams (similar to King of Fighters). The images opted for a more chibi style, with characters like Ryu, Chun-Li and Terry looking similar to the sprites found in other NeoGeo Pocket Color titles.
The GRAC rating specifies that this game is a “Nintendo Switch fighting game with SNK and CAPCOM characters” (according to Google Translate). SNK vs. Capcom has a rating of “All over the age of 12” here, and “minor violent expression” is cited as the reason for its grade.
With this listing appearing on South Korea’s scoreboard, it’s likely that the title will soon be posted on that region’s platform. While there is no confirmation that SNK vs. Capcom on Switch will launch in North America, this activity serves as an indicator that a possible launch in the state could occur.
Several NeoGeo Pocket Color games have found a home on Nintendo Switch in recent times, as in April 2020 we saw SNK Gals’ Fighters released on the console as part of the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection library. In August 2020, The King of Fighters R-2 and Samurai Shodown! 2 more have been added to this library, each title is available digitally for $ 7.99.
Given the fact that several handheld games have seen a version of Nintendo Switch over the last year or so, it’s certainly plausible that SNK vs.Capcom: The Match of the Millennium will follow suit as the next title in NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection.
SNK has been actively revealing content here in 2021, as King of Fighters 15 has been officially unveiled to the world and has been watching constant trailers every week for the past three weeks or so. It is possible that an official announcement of SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium may fall next to one of the upcoming showcases.
