Xbox Game Pass has already had a major update this year, as EA Play is added to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions, in addition to all the games that are routinely added, and if a new rumor occurs and as people expect it to do so, there may be another subscription to look forward to next year. The new rumor about Xbox Game Pass plans for 2021 suggests that the Ubisoft + service that gives people instant access to more than 100 Ubisoft games for a flat fee will also be added to Xbox Game Pass, probably through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions since EA Play was.
Rumors about Xbox Game Pass getting subscriptions to Ubisoft + were distributed online this week and many credit the Xbox Worlds site as a source. While the rumor may have been entertaining in forums and other discussions, Xbox Worlds included it in a list of the alleged Xbox rumors that are occurring right now.
This alone does not serve to reinforce the rumor, as theories like these float around discussion forums and forums frequently, but others have weighed in to make the rumor seem more likely. Jez Corden, of Windows Central, who has a good track record with news focused on Windows and Xbox, said he believes there is a “strong chance” that the rumors will be accurate based on what he has heard.

I imagine it would be a round or a smaller portion of old games, but more crazy things have happened. I always thought EA Play would be an extra level of Game Pass, but they just introduced that bad guy. I guess we’ll see.

The goal about Ubisoft + possibly adding a smaller selection of games to Xbox Game Pass instead of all around is one that has been suggested online alongside the initial rumor. Given how many games Ubisoft offers through the service and how it gets new versions of Ubisoft at launch, as Xbox Game Pass does with first-hand games, this will make many Xbox owners much less inclined to buy new versions of Ubisoft on the first day. EA Play works similarly to both services and was included in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions without warning, so there’s always the possibility of the same happening with Ubisoft + next year.
