Jacksonville State flags the Florida State logo after winning

Things couldn’t get any worse for the Florida state football team.

The Seminoles lost to Jacksonville State, an FCS team, Saturday after the Gamecocks scored a 59-yard touchdown pass when time expired for a 20-17 victory. The state of Florida fell to 0-2 with the defeat, the first against a minor enemy since 1961, according to ESPN.

Jacksonville State scored its impressive victory by planting its flag in the center of the field at Doak Campbell Stadium, right next to the Seminoles logo.

“It’s embarrassing,” Florida state quarterback McKenzie Milton told reporters. “We have to own this. We are who we are. We lost against the state of Jacksonville. We are 0-2, so all we can do is look ahead ”.

Florida head coach Mike Norvell apologized to the school and its football fans, and considered the loss to be “totally unacceptable.” The Seminoles went 3-6 last season in the first season of Norvell at the head of the show and have not had a winning season since 2017, when they went 7-6.
