JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A few days before losing the battle with COVID-19, a TikTok video creator from Jacksonville asked her viewers to get vaccinated.
“Don’t wait. Go get it, ”says Megan Blankenbiller in the video. “Because hopefully, if you get it, you won’t end up in the hospital like me.”
Blankenbiller recorded the video from the hospital bed while she was oxygenated and struggling to speak.
“I was not vaccinated. I am not anti-vax. I was just trying to investigate, “says Blankenbiller.” I was scared and wanted my family and I to do it at the same time. “
Her sister, Cristina, said less than a week later, Blankenbiller was on a fan. Less than two weeks after the video was released, Blankenbiller died.
Ashley Michaelis and Blankenbiller sang together in a chapel group called Jax Treblemakers. For his friends and spectators at TikTok, Blankenbiller went through Alex.
“She was one of those people who could absolutely change the energy of a room and light up a room as soon as she came in,” Michaelis said, holding back tears. “It really made all of our rehearsals fun.”
