Just over two years after his superhero sequel hit theaters Spider-Man: Far From Home, Jake Gyllenhaal came across a familiar face in Venice … sort of.

The forty-year-old actor was on holiday in Venice, Italy, when he noticed a cosplayer dressed as Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio.

Gyllenhaal took to his Instagram to share a moment on a gondola on one of Venice’s famous channels, with the cosplayer in the background.

He also shared a close-up shot of the fully dressed man, while others watched him.

“I met an old friend in Venice,” Gyllenhaal said in the headline of his post, which sparked some comments from famous friends.

Josh Gad simply replied, “Take it. He. Out,” while Deadpool comic book creator Rob Liefeld added, “You can completely grab this guy!”

Gyllenhaal’s character, Quentin Beck, was believed to have originally come from Earth-833, which is part of the ‘multiverse’, in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

While Beck portrayed himself as a hero named Mysterio, though, he eventually revealed himself as a disgruntled former employee of Tony Stark who specializes in optical illusions.

Parts of Spider-Man: Far From Home were filmed in Venice, with the story revolving around Peter Parker (Tom Holland) making a European summer trip with his classmates.

Gyllenhaal will be seen in The Guilty, a new thriller that brings him together with Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua.

The Guilty follows an unfortunate cop who has been demoted for sending the service whose life is turned upside down when he receives a call from a kidnapped woman.

Gyllenhaal stars alongside Paul Dano, Ethan Hawke, Riley Keough, Peter Sarsgaard and Bill Burr in the Netflix movie, debuting on October 1st.
