CLEVELAND: Jake Paul, the sensation song turned into YouTube, returns to the ring to face former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at the main event of a card at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Cleveland Sunday (Showtime PPV, 8 pm ET).
Paul (3-0, 3 KOs), 24, of Cleveland, has taken boxing by storm with stunning KO victories over fellow YouTuber Ali Eson Gib, former NBA star Nate Robinson and former champion by Bellator MMA Ben Askren.
“Tyron said he was training like he was fighting Mike Tyson,” Paul said during a media training session on Wednesday. “Floyd Mayweather is training him and he can be said to be fit. He has recovered the pack of six. He looks good. He is not damaged. This is his biggest fight in history and the whole MMA community has him. to represent him unfortunately, that won’t happen. And when he wins, there will be no excuses because Floyd Mayweather was being trained. “
Woodley, 39, of Ferguson, Missouri, who is making his boxing debut, won the UFC title against Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 in 2016. He defended the belt four times, but lost his last four fights afterwards.
“That’s a lot of fun. I haven’t had fun in a long time, to be real,” Woodley said. “I loved this training camp. It was one of my fun things I’ve never had. I have no problem with Jake Paul. The only problem is he signed the contract. He’s doing his best to play the games. “But I’m a man. I don’t play children’s games.”
In the main event, Amanda Serrano (40-1-1, 30 KOs), 32, of Brooklyn, New York, defends her WBC and WBO featherweight titles against Yamileth Mercado (18-2, 5 KOs). ), 23, of Chihuahua, Mexico.

Tommy Fury overtakes Anthony Taylor and calls Jake Paul
It wasn’t the kind of superstar performance many wanted from Tommy Fury. But he did the job.
Fury, half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, defeated MMA fighter Anthony Taylor by unanimous decision (40-36, 40-36, 40-36) over Paul-Woodley’s bottom card. The fight was contracted for four rounds at 180 pounds.
The much lower Taylor, who has competed up to 135 pounds in MMA, was giving up a huge advantage. Fury, a celebrity in the UK courtesy of his family and his appearance on the Love Island reality show, was placed on this card as a possible fight for Paul. It is unclear how a rather poor performance will affect the chances that it can be combined.
Taylor, who came in only with a professional boxing match, is a training partner of Paul’s, so the match was made to see how Fury would work against someone Paul knows well.
“Let’s go to Jake Paul,” Fury said in his post-fight interview.

Clearly, Fury won all the rounds, but Taylor tried to do it a lot, with a lot of effort and below the Fury, much higher. Taylor got some top right and left hooks, but Fury was much busier and got a lot more combinations and hard shots. To Taylor’s credit, he was never really hurt.
Fury (7-0), who is only 22, has won two straight decisions after four straight playoffs. Taylor (0-2), 32, struggling outside of Los Angeles, has a 7-5 MMA record and has competed in Bellator. Antonio McKee, the veteran MMA and father / coach of Bellator featherweight champion AJ McKee, was in Taylor’s corner.
Conwell dominates, stops Rubio
Charles Conwell defeated Juan Carlos Rubio by third-round TKO. After a solid but relatively quiet first round, Conwell dropped absolutely the third. He hit Rubio in the body and then smashed him with two consecutive left overlays to make him swing.
Conwell whipped a clean right hand that shook Rubio even further, and while Rubio remained standing, Conwell chewed him completely without any sign that things were getting better. This led the referee to intervene and stop the fight, giving Conwell a TKO victory at 2:49 of the third round.
Conwell (16-0, 12 KOs), one of the best prospects to fight outside of Cleveland, was a 2016 boxing Olympian. This is the young 23-year-old’s fifth win in the last six fights.
Rubio (18-1), a 23-year-old Mexican, had finished his previous two fights and was making his third appearance in the United States.
Conwell is known for a tragic incident involving Patrick Day, another boxing prospect, who died in 2019 after Conwell’s loss.
