“My hand in yours”: Jamie Lee Curtis offers support to those who fight addiction while celebrating 22 years of sobriety
She is the Hollywood star daughter of Hollywood legends and the driving force behind the highly successful Halloween movie franchise.
And on Wednesday, Jamie Lee Curtis marked a milestone in his journey of sobriety by reaching out to others.
The 62-year-old actress posted a meaningful message on Instagram in which she celebrated being a 22-year-old sober and told those struggling with addiction, “My hand is yours.”

Curtis shared a backstory photo of herself when she was a young actress posing with a tequila shot and, in the title that accompanied her, wrote: ‘A long time ago … In a very distant galaxy … I was a young WAR STAR with herself. I didn’t know it then. I chased it all. I kept it hidden. I was as sick as my secrets.
She continued, “With God’s grace and the support of MANY people who could relate to all the‘ feelings ’and a couple of sober angels … I was able to stay sober, one day at a time , for 22 years.
“I was a person with a high background pun, so the rare photo of me drinking proudly in a photograph is very useful to help me remember. To all those who fight and those who are on the way … MY HAND IN YOURS.

Curtis grew up in Hollywood as the daughter of Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh and debuted as an actor on the 1978 Halloween directed by John Carpenter.
He has since reprized the role of Laurie Strode five times, most recently on Halloween 2018, and returns for another showdown with serial killer Mike Myers in Halloween Kills, which will be released in October.
His other credits include Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda, Blue Steel, True Lies, The Tailor Of Panama and Knives Out.

It was in late 1998, 14 years after her marriage to Christopher Guest with whom she shares two children, that Curtis first faced her addiction to alcohol and painkillers.
In an interview with Variety published in November 2019, he recalled that while preparing dinner for his family, he took five Vicodin tablets washed with wine.
A friend who was staying at her house saw her and confronted her.
“The staff had risen,” Curtis said. Now I knew someone knew it. He had been caring for a secret addiction to Vicodin for a long time, for more than ten years.
A couple of months later, she told Variety, she came across an article in Writer Tom Chiarella’s Esquire magazine titled “Vicodin, My Vicodin” and inspired her to attend a recovery meeting.
She has been sober ever since.
