Javed Akhtar told NDTV that the right around the world wants the same things.
New Delhi:
No film related to writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar will be allowed in the country until he apologizes to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) officials for comparing it to Taliban spokesman Maharashtra MLA and BJP Ram Kadam.
The statements came a day after the poet-lyricist, during an interaction with NDTV, drew a parallel between the Taliban and “those who want a Hindu Rashtra.” The RSS, the ideological father of the BJP, has long argued that India is a “rashtra” or Hindu state.
“This statement by Javed Akhtar is not only shameful, but painful and humiliating for the crests of officials of the Hindu Parisgh of Sangh and the Vishva and of people around the world who follow his ideology,” Kadam said in a message video that also shared on Twitter.

He added that the officials of these organizations serve the poorest of the poor and that the poet-lyricist has insulted them.
“Before making these observations, I should have thought that people with the same ideology run the government now and comply with the raj dharma. If the ideology were Taliban, would it have been able to make these observations? This demonstrates the void of his statements, “the BJP spokesman said.
“We will not allow any of his films to run in this land of Ma Bharti until he apologizes to the Sangh officials who have dedicated their lives to the nation,” said Kadam, who is Ghatkopar’s deputy. West. .
Akhtar, also a former MP, is the father of filmmaker Zoya Akhtar and actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and husband of renowned actor Shabana Azmi.
Speaking to NDTV yesterday, he said the rights of everyone around the world want the same things. “Just as the Taliban want an Islamic State, there are those who want a Hindu Rashtra. These people have the same mentality, whether Muslim, Christian, Jewish or Hindu,” he said.
“Of course, the Taliban are barbaric and their actions are reprehensible, but those that support RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal are the same,” he said.
In response to a question about the observations of some Muslim leaders celebrating the Taliban’s return to Afghanistan, Akhtar said that “these people are a tiny Muslim population in our nation.”
“Most of the Muslims I spoke to were surprised and dismayed that some of these statements were made. Today, most young Muslims in India want a good job and a good education for their children in But on the other hand, there are some who want to believe in this kind of regressive thinking: where men and women are segregated, where the regressive mentality is promoted. But, as I said, these people are a handful , so let them say what they want, they won’t get it, “he said.
Akhtar added, “I have full faith in the basic sensibilities of an average Indian. Most of this nation is extremely decent and tolerant. It must be respected. India will never become a Taliban country.”
