Jeans, how do we feel? Tesla files to become the state’s electricity supplier

HOUSTON – Jeans, do you think that’s a good idea? Apparently, Tesla CEO Elon Musk introduced a new subsidiary, called Tesla Energy Ventures, to the Texas Public Utilities Commission.

Musk showed up to become Texas’ electricity supplier in mid-August after seeing an opportunity in the market after the deadly February winter storm, according to Texas Monthly. The Texas Electric Reliability Council currently operates the state’s power grid, which failed during the cold, leaving millions of Texans without electricity.

Announcements

The company plans to sell kilowatts removed from the grid or remove from home-made batteries manufactured by Tesla if the grid never goes down. The company also said it will give extra money to jeans with solar panels if they share excess energy with the grid. According to a statement, Tesla plans to build two utility-scale giant batteries outside of Houston and Austin to serve wholesale power companies.
