Jessica Simpson “has not thought about alcohol” during the COVID-19 pandemic, is focused on sobriety

Jessica Simpson shared an update on the status of her sobriety.

The 40-year-old singer gave up alcohol in November 2017 and explained that she “hasn’t thought about alcohol” amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic during a remote appearance on The Tamron Hall Show.

“It’s weird because alcohol was easy for me to give up. I was enduring the way I romanticized the pain I liked to endure,” he said in a preview of the interview, which airs Friday.

The host of the 50-year-old talk show asked the fashion designer what it was like to “stay sober” during this “challenging year”.

Jessica hasn’t had a drink since she first went sober more than three years ago and didn’t allow the stress of 2020 to get in the way of her trip.

The star revealed she couldn’t do it without her husband, Eric Johnson, 41, by her side: “Eric and I both look at each other, as if we couldn’t drink this.”

Simpson is currently promoting the pocket release of his best-selling memoirs of 2020, Open Book.

In the book, he described that he hit rock bottom after a Halloween party at the couple’s house in late 2017 when he told friends, “I need to stop. Something has to stop. And if it’s alcohol that does this and makes things worse, I quit smoking. ”

Her former NFL player joined her to quit alcohol to act as a mainstay as she entered a new chapter in her life.

During an appearance turned on Good Morning America, she he said he decided to talk to his daughter Maxwell about the abuse after an amateur approached him at a book signing ceremony, who said she was inspired to seek therapy after reading about her experience.

Inside the book, Jessica revealed that the daughter of a family friend sexually abused her when she was six years old.

The Public Affair singer kept the abuse a secret for years and did not inform his parents until six years after it started.

Simpson also admitted that his children have read some of his memoirs: “They have read some of them. There is nothing that is out of bounds. We are very open in the family. For me, when I talk about abuse and things sex, this happened to me when I was younger than them and at their age, so it’s something we’re very open about.
