WASHINGTON (AP) – Jill Biden offers comforting advice to Kelly Clarkson, telling the singer and talk show host that she’s divorcing that things are getting better and that life will end up “getting better.”
The first lady, divorced, also reveals what she expects when COVID-19 clears up and explains why women have to spend time every day, just as she does. He spoke during an interview with Clarkson that will air nationwide Thursday.
Clarkson recently brought his program to the White House for a socially distant conversation with Biden in the East Room. NBC released excerpts from interviews Wednesday, including a clip of the first lady offering comforting words about the sequel after a breakup of the relationship.
Citing the advice of his late mother, he tells Clarkson that things happen for a reason. She also says her divorce set her free to meet Joe Biden and have a family with him.
“My mom always told me things would get better tomorrow,” Jill Biden said, encouraging Clarkson to “take one day at a time, and things will get better.”
“Now I look back, and I think if I hadn’t divorced anymore, I would never have met Joe,” he continued. “I wouldn’t have the beautiful family I have now. So I think things really happen and I think, Kelly, over time, I don’t know how much time has passed for you, but I think over time, you’ll heal and be surprised and I won’t I can wait until that day comes. “
Clarkson has spoken in other interviews about the pain of his public breakup. Last year she filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock after nearly seven years of marriage. They have two children.
After marrying Joe Biden, Jill Biden helped raise her children Beau and Hunter after her mother and sister died in a car accident in 1972. The couple later had a daughter, Ashley. . Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46. The bidens also have six grandchildren.
During her first solo television interview, Jill Biden also commented on her interest in education, military families, cancer research, and country healing. He also answered questions from members of the program’s virtual audience.
“Maybe you’re going to grab a martini and some fries,” he told an audience participant who asked him what he would do when COVID-19 cleared up.
She explained why she enjoys exercising and wastes time on her own.
“I run, I ride a bike. It clears my head, so it’s very important to me and I think all women should have something, it doesn’t have to be physical exercise, although hopefully it will be, ”she said. “Just to take a moment for yourself.”
“So I get up early, and that’s my time I have for myself,” Biden said.
