ULike his competitor on CBS, Jimmy Kimmel considered the first day of Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial to be “boring and useless.” The second day was a different story.
“What the House managers have presented today has been absolutely fascinating,” the host of the night said at the top of his monologue. “They had never seen videos of the riots that terrified congressmen. Mitt Romney had to run, they had a video of it. The crowd knocked on the windows, knocked on doors, sought to find Nancy Pelosi, singing “Hang Mike Pence.”
Among the most shocking new video snippets, Kimmel explained, were Pence and his family evacuated from the building “to escape the army of dangerous idiots the president sent.”
“And Trump, all the time, sat in his office and said nothing. For hours, ”he said. “In fact, he tweeted during this, again blaming his own vice president, saying he didn’t have the courage to do what needed to be done. It was a very powerful presentation, much more than anything he had seen before.”
“I have no idea how this could be seen and vote for anything other than‘ guilty as defendant, ’” Kimmel said. “Trump should have been removed from office that day.”
When his small audience began to applaud, he continued, “That’s how you know it was serious. This trial was broadcast live by ABC, NBC, CNN and CBS. The only channel that was cut? Fox News. Wow, I wonder why? “
In fact, Fox abruptly cut the house’s prosecution manager, Eric Swalwell, in half a sentence, so that viewers could hear from the hosts of The Five, who proceeded to denounce the entire trial as a waste of time.
The host also shared the news about how unfortunate Trump reported on how his lawyers handled themselves Tuesday, though, as reported by The Daily Beast, Wednesday’s testimony put him in a “very good mood.” .
“They say the last time he was so crazy was when he found out there was a Donald Trump Jr.,” Kimmel joked, before playing a clip of the former president’s son defending his father in Hannity. “Why didn’t you drink bleach when your father told you to?” he asked.
