Donald Trump has yet to call Joe Biden to congratulate him on winning the 2020 election. And Jimmy Kimmel knows why: he’s “too busy” calling Fox News.
“After 27 days in hiding, Trump has called Fox News today to talk about his friend Rush Limbaugh who died,” the night’s host said during his monologue Wednesday night. “And what a beautiful tribute.”
Kimmel proceeded to air highlights of the first of two phone “interviews” Trump gave Fox, apparently to praise the openly racist, misogynistic and homophobic radio mogul, who died Wednesday after a long battle against lung cancer.
But instead of talking about Limbaugh’s life, the former president focused primarily on the election he lost nearly four months ago, saying things like “Rush thought we had won and so had I.”
“Anyway, who died again?” Kimmel joked in response. “There’s no ‘I’ in praise, Don.”
He even gave credit to Fox News hosts for doing “everything possible to talk about it” about the late radio giant, “but somehow he kept going back to the election he still believes he won.”
“Well, I have to believe Rush would have wanted to hear Trump without any sense about himself,” Kimmel concluded, before moving on to the dramatic demolition of Trump’s Atlantic City casino.
