President-elect Joe Biden appeared Thursday on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where he told the comic that he has “great confidence” in his son Hunter.
Joe Biden defended Hunter after his son last week revealed the existence of federal investigations into his “tax affairs” and his business in Ukraine.
“We have a lot of confidence in our son,” Biden told Colbert.
“I am not worried about the accusations against him. It usually comes to me. I think it’s kind of a dirty game. But, uh, look, that’s what it is. “
Joe Biden continued to praise his son’s intellect as he pledged to work with Republicans trying to investigate Hunter’s money problems.
“He is an old man. He’s the smartest man I know … in pure intellectual capacity and as long as he’s good, we’re fine, ”Biden said.
Hunter Biden addressed the investigations in a statement issued by the Biden-Harris transition team last week.
“I take this issue very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I have dealt with my matters legally and appropriately, even to the advantage of professional tax advisers,” he wrote. Hunter.
In October, The Post revealed that Hunter Biden had introduced his father to a senior executive at Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company on whose board he sat.
