Democratic lawmakers called for the extension of the temporary protection status (TPS) for citizens of Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala, and the inclusion of Venezuela in the program that protects the deportation.

the program TPS grants a temporary legal residence with a work permit for citizens of a group of countries designated by the American government such as places where there have been natural disasters or where people are fleeing because of violence.
The program currently covers citizens of 10 countries – El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The designations of El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras and Nicaragua expire next October 4th.
